Living in New York City and Venice, CA for most of my life, I've been aware of the multiple timelines of the environment around me. While the earth works at a glacial pace that is imperceptible to human timeframes, civilization works magnitudes faster. A structure may stand for centuries, but the marks that humans leave upon it may be applied then washed, painted or ripped away within a day.

If we could train a time-lapse camera upon this, the topology and architecture would change perhaps slightly, while the day-to-day changes to the surfaces would flicker at tremendous speed. This "noise" is everywhere, and it is constantly shifting and changing. Graffiti, wheat-pasted art and advertisements, stickers and the scribbling of markers are combined, layered and partially covered and ripped away, leaving a momentary collage of readymade art that we walk past everyday. Within it, fashion shoots share the space with self-expression, and carefully planned graphic design becomes mixed with the hand-scrawled tag of a passerby. Every when cleaned the surface carries the history and wear of never-ending human interference.

This is a collection of photographs which are connected together in a constant horizontal format, covering these moments in multiple cities over 15+ years. This project is occasionally updated with new work as it is found. The project scrolls horizontally - on a phone, it is best viewed in landscape format.
